Remote Control Panel for Toshiba and Iconix Cameras

For multi-camera studio and OB work, Polecam offers the essential option of the Remote Control Panel. The RCP has been completely re-designed so that it looks more like an engineering OCP and it is now rack mountable for ease of use.

The RCP allows full remote control of Polecam standard def camera, currently the Toshiba 3-CCD TU61/63 in PAL, or the TU51/53 in NTSC. It has also been programmed to allow control of the new Iconix HD-RH1 High Definition remote head camera.

Colour balance, master pedestal, gain and detail can be remotely adjusted as well as many other engineering parameters. It also adds red and green operator tally lights and mechanical iris control. The panel has been designed to be operator-friendly. This allows Polecam to integrate easily into any OB or multi-camera set-up. All the data passes down a standard audio cable/tie line up to approx 500m. As if all this wasn’t enough, a small joystick has recently been added to the RCP to offer remote control of the Polecam pan & tilt head. This means that the Polecam could be placed in a particular location unattended, ie without an operator, and the pan & tilt head operated remotely from the location of the RCP.

Scottish Television, STV, uses this new feature to place Polecams behind soccer goals for the Scottish Premier League Football without an operator to obscure the spectators’ view. The position of the Polecam camera can then be adjusted as necessary from the OB vehicle.
