NFL Combine: Annual high profile event in Indianapolis, live on the NFL Network and shot in 1080i using a Toshiba HD camera on the Polecam.John was using a Polecam RCP together with a Telecast Rattler to convert the HD-SDI Polecam output to optical fibre. John has now worked this event for NFL for 4 years running and the Polecam has become integral to the event.
NHRA Drag Racing: NHRA Drag Racing finals in Pomona, California, shot for ESPN, recorded in 720p using the Camera Corp HD Mini Zoom camera on Polecam.
Superstars of Dance: Nigel Lithgow's 'Superstars of Dance' on NBC, using the Toshiba HD camera on Polecam down-converted to 16x9 SD. This was a recent prime time series in the US.
NUTS TV: a promo shoot last year, using an Iconix HD camera on Polecam. John seems to get all these jobs, AND he gets paid for it too.
LA Car Show: 2008 Shoot was for German 'Universal Television', the result of a test shoot that John did for them the previous year.
X-Games: Shot as a special project for ESPN in 3D.There were 8 RED cameras doubled up plus John's Polecam rigged using 2 x 2K cameras on a Polecam 3D head. John says the pictures he saw on playback were truly amazing. We look forward to further developments in 3D. There are plans afoot to transmit events like this, and concerts, to 3D-HD cinemas and also to homes, with companies like Sky in the UK currently experimenting using existing HD set top boxes. The cost of 3D LCD TVs will drop as production ramps up over the next year or so.
