The Cape - NBC

An American network television drama, used the rig to simulate a camera on a flying robotic drone. The rig was mounted on an ATV and driven around McArthur Park in Los Angeles, chasing and hunting the lead actors as if it was about to 'blow them up'. A Toshiba IK-RH1S was used with the ultra-wide 'Hi-Eye' lens for an almost 170degree field of view to simulate the 'drone camera's' POV. The shots were designed to give the drone's POV a very specific and unique look - which the production feels they have achieved.

It was a job for Creative Technology for the opening ceremony including short musical performance by Alisha Dixon of the new 'One New Change' shopping mall situated in the heart of the city of London right next door to St Paul's Cathedral.

2 studio style cameras plus the Polecam mounted with a Toshiba HD1 camera were used feeding to big screens around the event and Polecam was a simple and easy solution of putting a jib on the roof terrace of the building.

Having flown my Polecam on “Derren Brown – The Events” at the end of 2009 I was pleased to work with Objective Productions again for the next big Derren Brown Show, “Hero at 30,000 feet”

This was a highly ambitious one hour special following Derren Brown as he used his powers of suggestion to change a mans life around.

Using a combination of hidden cameras and specially constructed stunts over many challenging shoots the whole programme came to life.

This really allowed Polecam to show off its unique abilities of being discreet, mobile and quick to rig while at the same time producing stunning images.

From swooping shots outside the house of the subject while he was away, to being in the flight simulator room for the climax of the show. One of the stranger shoots I’ve ever done with polecam required me to be in a corn field near Leeds at 4am standing in a crop circle with a live alligator on a plinth. This could ONLY happen on a Derren Brown shoot.

Once again I was using the Toshiba HD1 recording down to the Convergent Design Flash XDR.
