Richard Hookings and John Gillan working together for Cadbury's on a two-polecam shoot filming a one day event jam packed with craziness including crowd surf racing, toilet roll goggle football and mattress jousting.
The producers of this event had used polecam before so it was no surprise that they chose two polecams - polecam was the perfect choice due to multi locations, lots of action and general nuttiness that needed a birdseye perspective.
Having two polecams simply meant extensive coverage and more sexy shots; we worked together on some of the larger events and split into separate units later in the day. The two polecams were both shooting HD recording back to the flash XDR on compact flash cards.

In a dramatic finale to a major character, the rooftop of the Granada building was the scene of a night shoot where Tom's HD Polecam proved its worth enabling the director to call for off roof shots and vertigo inducing moves from 4 stories high in the air. This was the first time a Polecam has been used on "Coronation Street" which has been running since the early Sixties. Now shot on P2 High Definition at 100Mbps using Ikegami cameras the Polecam's Toshiba camera was able to compliment the other pictures and provide buttock clenching shots from beyond the roof line as well as craning moves to add drama to the scene.
Steffan has just been in theatre again with the Smith & Nephew Orthopaedic Department.
Using a very short Polecam fitted with a Toshiba IK-HD1 and just one section with an elbow and a further half section, 5 hip resurfacing procedures, in two different theatres, were filmed live to 15 surgeons from China. The Polecam was covered in a sterile surgical drape allowing unrestricted access over the site of the operation which took place at the BMI Edgbaston, Birmingham, UK
